Mercara
The small town of Mercara is the capital of Coorg and stands 124 km west of Mysore. There is a fort here which has played an important part in Kamataka's tumultous history and also the Omareswara Temple.This region, where the western ghats start to tumble down towards the sea, is green, scenic and fertile and an important coffee growing area. The view from the Raja's Seat is wonderful.
